Rose city Champs details - pass onto parents coming to watch

5 Oct by Ian gillespie

Parking: Parking will not be allowed at the golf course for spectators. We have reserved the front 9 but they will run golf on the back 9 and need to utilize their parking lots for those people. Please let your parents know this. There is ample city parking as well as parking at Roseway Heights. You can also park up by McDaniel and it’s about a 1200 meter walk to the course. If you park near McDaniel we will also have buses taking spectators back and forth between McDaniel HS and Rose City Golf Course.

Bus Drop Off: Buses will drop off athletes in the Rose City Parking Lot. From there buses will be instructed to go to the McDaniel HS Parking Lot. Buses will also be able to park on NE Thompson along the baseball field. There is lots of space for buses to park so please ensure that buses use those spots.

Admission: We will be charging admission this year, 8 dollars per person if you purchase a ticket before the meet, 10 dollars day of. Click HERE to purchase your ticket ahead of time This can be done via cash or Venmo. We will have a Venmo QR code at each concession table.

Concessions: All food and drink will be purchased at the Rose City Club House. They will have their typical menu available including burgers, sandwiches, water, gatorade, etc.

Apparel: We will have onsite apparel similar to what we had last year. Foot Traffic and Nike are partnering with us this year and we will have tech tees, hoodies, t-shirts and more.

Team Tent Areas: All team tents will be placed on the west side of the parking lot or in the space between the pond by hole 9 and the Driving Cart House near hole 1. This is marked on the Map and will be marked on the course.

Porta Potties/Bathrooms: We will have Porta Potties on site and the Clubhouse will allow access to bathrooms. Porta Potties will be set in 2 locations, near the start line and near the team area. Please instruct athletes not currently racing or warming up to use the porta potties near the team area of the clubhouse to ensure that those that are about to race have access to the ones closest to the start line.

Golf Course Etiquette: This is a public golf course and we are so thankful that they are allowing us to use the course for our meet. With this said we want to make sure the course remains in great shape. We will be roping off greens and tee boxes but please remind your coaches, spectators and families to please stay off of those areas. Dogs will also not be allowed on the course. Please relay this to your families.

Course Specifics: Both the MS and HS courses are fast, fair courses that will see athletes run on both the fairways as well as the roughs. For reference, the course records are Hayden Boaz from Summit who ran 14:31.10 and Chloe Huyler from Lakeridge who ran 16:32.10. I only share this to show that this course can run quite fast. A course map for both the 3k and 5k course is attached to the meet info page.

Which Race to Enter: Please start entering athletes today for which race you’d like them to be in. As a reminder, we sent out invites for the Championship Race last week. We’ve not received responses from a majority yet on who your athletes will be in the Champs race. Please respond ASAP so that we can invite other teams. If you would like to enter an individual into the Championship race please email me with that information and we will discuss amongst our meet directors. We will only be allowing a max of 2 athletes per team to run as individuals in the Championship race. The Bronze Varsity race should be our smaller and up and coming teams. For the JV Divisions we’ve received many questions around where to enter kids. You can enter kids into the JV Champs, JV Silver and JV Bronze race and we’d prefer you do that. Please do not just blanket enter all of your kids into one JV race.

Entry Deadline is October 5th at 10:00pm

We will have boxes set aside for elite individuals. You are more than welcome to enter a kid or two in the Championship race and the rest of your team in the Silver race. We had many teams do that last year.

Awards: Top 3 Teams in each Varsity Race and Middle School Race, Top 10 Individuals in every race
