BHS Cross Country - Summer running starts now

8 Jun by Ian gillespie

For most athletes who ran track its been about 2 weeks since the district meet so hopefully you have all taken a break and are now ready to get ready for the fall cross country season. As with all sports – the off season and pre-season are key to a successful season.

Over the coming weeks we will be building up the volume of running, adding workouts days and also starting to present some additional strength and conditioning work. When we meet for workouts, we will need to do this is in the evening. My work means that i cant meet until the end of the day. Every week i will send out a schedule on Sunday evening for the coming week along with any important information.

Over the last few seasons we have been growing as a team and we still need to add more athletes so bring along your friends. As you all know, we modify the work so that we meet each runner where they currently are fitness wise.

Schedule this week is pretty simple – run every other day. Base your effort on how you feel aim for 20 to 30 mins easy and relaxed. If its a bit more or less it doesn’t matter, wea re just getting out to run this week.

To give everyone a chance to keep track of how many days you are running and how many miles, please use this google sheet to record your summer miles – they will be an award for the person that is the most consistent across the summer
